Our Plan of Action

Marion County TeenAge Republicans has formulated a plan by which we can to accomplish our goals.  Our plan of action consists of three main components: educating, engaging, and enjoying.  The education of ourselves about Republican principles and basic knowledge about our government will enable us to then engage people about various issues.  Participating in campaigns and debates will allow us to inform and educate the public about Republican principles and basic knowldge about government.  Finally, as TeenAge Republicans, it is important that we maintain a positive atmosphere that encourages teamwork.  Therefore, getting to know each other by sharing in enjoying experiences will help us to maitain that atmosphere of continuity.  The following is an outline of our plan:

 I. To Educate

   A. Ourselves

       1. Researching

       2. Studying

*Light E-TAEM (Equipping – To Answer Every Man) assignments will equip us with general knowledge about our government and will help us to establish our beliefs and the reasons why we believe what we believe. This will require some extra effort, but anything worth doing takes work.

   B. Others

       1. Inviting

       2. Participating (in debates, campaigns, etc.)

*This will take both work and initiative. However, this aspect is essential in helping us to fulfill our goal.

II. To Engage

   A. Trips

*We may take a trip every now and then to our State capitol to lobby, interview lobbyists, sit in on a Senate/House debate, or simply tour.

   B. Mock legislature

*An E-TAEM assignment may be to write a bill (don’t worry, you won’t be asked to do something without having the slightest idea about how to do it.) Then, we will hold a mock legislature in which we will use parliamentary procedure.

   C. Games

*We also may play various games in order to familiarize ourselves with the Constitution.

   D. Guest speakers

*Every now and then if we need a burst of inspiration or, maybe, just for a change of pace, we will have guest speakers come talk to us. After a speaker speaks, we are going to practice the art of having questions. Everyone must have a question after a guest speaker speaks and is open for questions.

III. To Enjoy

*It is important that we incorporate social activities that will encourage an environment of continuity and teamwork. Getting to know one another by sharing in enjoying experiences will help us to maintain a positive, healthy atmosphere.

   A. Games

   B. Dinners

   C. Fund-raisers
